TaylorMade Qi4D vs. Callaway Quantum Max
Two of the most talked-about drivers of the season, head-to-head — where each one actually wins, and which golfer each one is built for.
The Scorecard
We're not here to crown one universal "winner" — because there isn't one. Here's how the two stack up, category by category, based on published 2026 testing data.
Distance: where the Quantum Max pulls ahead
Callaway had arguably its most dominant equipment showing in years this season. Its Quantum lineup placed four models in the testing top seven — the strongest lineup result any single brand has produced in that test's history — with the Quantum Triple Diamond Max also taking a separate outlet's top spot. If raw carry and ball speed are your priority off the tee, the Quantum family is built for exactly that.

The Qi4D took the overall #1 spot in a 42-driver field test, scoring 9.2 out of 10 by landing in the top six for distance, top four for accuracy, and top four for forgiveness — a combination no other driver in that field matched across all three at once. That all-around consistency is exactly what mid-to-high handicappers benefit from most, since it forgives the mishits that cost the average golfer strokes.
It's also backed up on tour: both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy moved into the Qi4D immediately, after TaylorMade's prior model had struggled to win tour adoption the year before — a sign the redesigned weighting and carbon face genuinely solved a real problem rather than just refreshing the paint job.

Pick the Qi4D if you...
- Are a mid-to-high handicapper who loses more strokes to mishits than to lack of distance
- Want a driver that performs consistently across the whole face, not just the center
- Value having what tour pros are actually gaming, not just marketing around it
Pick the Quantum Max if you...
- Already strike the ball consistently and want to convert that into more carry
- Are chasing raw distance over margin for error
- Want a brand lineup with multiple proven models to fit a specific swing shape

Bottom line
If forgiveness and all-around consistency matter more to your scorecard than a few extra yards, the Qi4D is the safer buy for 2026. If you already strike it well and want to squeeze out more distance, the Quantum Max is worth the fitting.
